I know they don’t want the absurd mob density that PoE has, and I think that is admirable, but they definitely need to beef it up and make it more consistent. I assume this will get better with mounts in open world, but in dungeons it is equally bad. ![]() There are stretches of >1min where you are just walking. The two points above are excellent foundations for the game and give me hope for its future development. Narrative so far is actually quite interesting and much better than D3. ![]() The music, voice acting, graphics, lighting, and environment all sell a dark and twisted Sanctuary. Finally Blizzard brought us back to the gritty, grimy, gory, and macabre feeling that the D1 and D2 had. This is one of the hardest things for a game to get right and is the base of an ARPG (and usually where new ARPGs fail) so this gives me hope. Audiovisual cues are phenomenal and the game feels punchy. I can see how this will scale really well in endgame. It is a great feeling killing a dungeon boss as they actually feel like a boss and are challenging. Telegraphed attacks and attack patterns are super important and visually well executed. Evade is a very neat mechanic that I think a lot of ARPGs could benefit from. It’s slowed down enough so you can actually see what enemies are doing and respond without being so slow that it feels turn-based. The GoodĬombat in this game feels top notch. It has the potential to be an excellent ARPG and it gets a lot of things right that are the essence of an ARPG, but there is still a lot lacking for this to be considered a great game.
